Panera Bread of East Tennessee
In Our Communities

Because we believe that the universal spirit of bread is sharing, we're committed to the communities we live in and serve. We show our appreciation for customers not only within our bakery-cafes but also by sponsoring special events open to the neighborhood and participating in charitable events.

Hunger affects communities all across the country - rural, urban and suburban.  The USDA reports that 50 million Americans are uncertain of where they will find their next meal, including 17 million children and 3.5 million seniors - that's 1 in 6 Americans and nearly 1 in 4 children.

Through the Day-End Dough-Nation program, unsold bakery products are packaged at the end of each day and donated to local food banks and charities.  In 2009, Panera Bread bakery-cafes collectively donated a retail value of more than 50 million dollars worth of bread and baked goods to charitable organizations helping to address the need for food distribution in our local communities.  Many of these organizations are served by Feeding
America, formerly America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization.

Our Mobile, Alabama cafes are teaming up with the Bay Area Food Bank in an online food drive during Hunger Action Month.  Please visit their website at www.bayareafoodbank.org to see how you can help.

At Panera Bread of East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, North Georgia & Mobile, Alabama, we want to thank all of our Day-End-Doughnation participants who help feed many of the hungry in our communities by picking up the day
end product from each of our Panera Bread Bakery-Cafe's.  Click here for a list of our Day-End-Dough-Nation participants.
